چکیده
Abstract This research is the first to produce induced pluripotent stem cell-derived inner ear sensory neurons in Neurog1 +/? heterozygote mouse using blastocyst complementation. Additionally, this approach corrected non-sensory deficits associated with heterozygosity, indicating that complementation specific endogenous function. work validates use of as a tool create novel insight into function developmental genes and highlights potential platform for generating chimeric cell types can be transplanted damaged ears improve hearing.

Survival of inner ear sensory neurons in trk mutant mice
Analysis of trkB-/-; trkC-/- double mutant mice revealed that peripheral and central inner ear sensory neurons are affected in these mice. However, a substantial amount of cochlear and vestibular neurons survive, possibly due to maintenance or upregulation of TrkA expression. To clarify the function of the TrkA receptor during development of the cochlear and vestibular ganglion we analysed trkA...
متن کاملSensory organ generation in the chick inner ear.
There are a total of eight sensory organs in the chick inner ear. Each sensory organ has a distinct structure tailored for its function, and its morphology is well characterized. However, the origin of these sensory organs and the lineage relationships among them are largely unknown. In this report, we show that BMP4 (bone morphogenetic protein), a secreted protein of the TGF-beta gene family, ...
متن کاملUnconventional Myosins in Inner-Ear Sensory Epithelia
To understand how cells differentially use the dozens of myosin isozymes present in each genome, we examined the distribution of four unconventional myosin isozymes in the inner ear, a tissue that is particularly reliant on actin-rich structures and unconventional myosin isozymes. Of the four isozymes, each from a different class, three are expressed in the hair cells of amphibia and mammals. I...
متن کاملAutoimmune Inner Ear Disease- A Clinical Viewpoint
Recent developments in medicine have given us a better insight into a group of disorders known as autoimmune diseases. In particular, advances have occurred in our understanding of the Autoimmune Inner Ear Disease (AIED). In this article, the authors review the different postulated theories in the pathogenesis of this disease. The clinical presentation, the available para-clinical diagnostic to...
متن کاملHCN Channels Are Not Required for Mechanotransduction in Sensory Hair Cells of the Mouse Inner Ear
The molecular composition of the hair cell transduction channel has not been identified. Here we explore the novel hypothesis that hair cell transduction channels include HCN subunits. The HCN family of ion channels includes four members, HCN1-4. They were originally identified as the molecular correlates of the hyperpolarization-activated, cyclic nucleotide gated ion channels that carry curren...
